Big Joe gets protection order against his brother

Joseph ‘Big Joe’ Nyalungu’s younger brother damaged his Toyota Land Cruiser with an axe during an argument about their mother's funeral arrangements.

Today, March 26, the Mkhuhlu Magistrate’s Court near Hazyview has ordered Wonderboy Nyalungu not to damage any property owned by his elder brother, Joseph ‘Big Joe’ Nyalungu.

Big Joe is infamous in this area for his numerous court appearances, most of which are related to alleged poaching.

The order was made during Big Joe’s application for a protection order against Wonderboy.

Big Joe had approached the court after an incident in which Wonderboy hit the former’s Toyota Land Cruiser with an axe on Thursday, March 6.

This incident happened in Madras Village, where the Nyalungu family had gathered in a meeting to arrange the funeral of the two men’s 82-year-old mother, Evelyn Nyalungu. She passed away on March 5, after a short illness.

According to a source that opted to remain anonymous, Wonderboy, Big Joe and their sister had an argument over the date on which their mother’s funeral should take place.

The source said Wonderboy and their sister wanted the funeral to take place on March 8, while Big Joe wanted it to be on Saturday, March 15.

“The disagreement sparked a very heated and aggressive argument. Wonderboy accused Big Joe of witchcraft, adding that he had a big snake that made him a very rich man. He publicly announced that the snake would finish the whole family,” said the source.

“He then jumped into Big Joe’s Toyota Land Cruiser and drove it into one of his other vehicles. He then alighted from the car and got an axe from the house. He then started hitting the Toyota Land Cruiser severely.”

This is when Big Joe decided to approach the court for a protection order against Wonderboy.

Shortly after this attack, rumours regarding an attempted assassination started circulating. Though, Big Joe dismissed these allegations.

When asked whether he indeed owned a big snake for wealth, Big Joe neither confirmed nor denied the accusation.

“Wonderboy is my younger brother. If he also wants to be rich he must just wait for the snake that he claims I have to have offspring, then he can choose one in order to become rich as well,” said Big Joe.

He also said he was happy that the court made the protection order a final.
