White River community group receives brand-new bakkie to boost action

The Power of 8000 received a new bakkie on loan from Westvaal Numbi Ford, enabling the organisation to keep up its good work.

The Power of 8000 (TPO8000) recently received a donation, a new Foton bakkie, from Westvaal Numbi Ford.

TPO8000’s chairperson, Rhodes Abell, said this marks the fourth vehicle Westvaal has entrusted to the organisation, following two Ford Rangers and one Isuzu.

Each bakkie, fully branded with TPO8000’s logo, is made available to the organisation on a six-month loan before being sold as a demo model.

“Affectionately named Sebenza 4.0 from the isiZulu word, meaning ‘to work’, this latest vehicle continues a tradition of community-focused service. Without these essential workhorses, TPO8000 would not be able to carry out its daily operations, which include removing litter and waste from collection points and bins around White River.

“The vehicle also enables the deployment of the group’s ground crew, the Power Rangers, who maintain the town’s public spaces by trimming verges, clearing overgrown areas, managing green spaces, and assisting with general maintenance where it’s needed most,” said Abell.

He also shared his appreciation for the donation. “We simply couldn’t function at this level without a reliable vehicle like Sebenza. It enables our team to reach every corner of White River and ensure our town is clean, cared for, and constantly improving. TPO8000 continues to grow as a powerful example of civic action in action.

Westvaal Numbi Ford’s dealer principal, Gerrit Kroon, expressed his support for the initiative, and said: “Partnering with TPO8000 allows us to give back in a meaningful way. This collaboration fills a vital gap in community service operations and makes a visible difference to our town.”
