Mbombela CBD defaced again as by-law enforcement falls short
We Care 4 Nelspruit removed all the advertising posters but now they are back.
The CBD is once again covered with posters advertising abortions and enlargement services.
This resurgence comes despite recent efforts by We Care 4 Nelspruit to clear the city of such advertisements.
The organisation undertook a significant clean-up operation, removing these posters from electrical poles, substations and road signs throughout the city.
Undeterred, those responsible for the illicit advertisements have returned, plastering the streets – including areas next to the Nelspruit Police Station and the court.
Local businesses and residents in the CBD have expressed their dismay, calling on the City of Mbombela’s (CoM) by-law enforcement to intervene.

They argue these posters contribute significantly to the city’s unsightliness.
Some residents claim to have photographed individuals putting up the posters and submitted the evidence to the municipality, which reportedly yielded no response.
“We welcomed the clearing of the posters by We Care 4 Nelspruit, but now they have mushroomed across town,” said one concerned resident.

These people always go unpunished; that is why they decide to keep on coming back. The fact that they are posted next to the police station is an indication that they are not scared of anyone.”
Pr TJ Maré, the founder of We Care 4 Nelspruit, voiced his deep disappointment at the lack of official action, despite reportedly providing the municipality with evidence linking individuals to the posters.
“We cleaned the city and it was looking good, but it is now defaced again with the adverts. All our efforts are down the drain. If the municipality had acted on our information, the city would be clean by now. We know the address of the suspect, but I doubt CoM by-law enforcement will do anything about it,” Maré said.
The spokesperson of the CoM, Joseph Ngala, was not available for comment.
