The concert took attendees on a special journey around the world.

After many hours of hard work, dedication and practice, the intermediate phase learners at Curro Nelspruit put together two special performances of their annual concert.

This year’s concert was titled Echoes of Home, and it was a true spectacle, showcasing the creativity and teamwork of the learners, parents and teachers. The brainchild of Sharon Eaton, Curro Nelspruit’s primary school head of English, the play told the story of Nia (Hlelo Molaba), a young girl from a small African village who dreams of changing the world.

While her family implored her to remember that change begins at home, Nia along with her two friends Ellie (Zia Khan) and Cece (Cionette Potgieter), set off on an inspiring journey overseas, taking the audience through colourful scenes of India, Mexico, and the USA.

After many adventures the trio comes to realise that the wisdom shared by Nia’s grandfather rang all too true – real change starts within her own community. The heart-warming story concludes when Nia, Ellie and Cece return home where they’re welcomed with open arms, marking the start of a new chapter filled with hope and purpose.

It was a truly special concert this year, as both nights were sold out. In addition, for the very first time, the school’s choir and marimba band performed too, filling the hall with vibrant rhythms and beautiful harmonies. Adding to the excitement was a full cast performance, also a first for the intermediate phase, and a lively guest appearance by the charismatic singing and dancing group, Boboza n Toto.

In between waves at family members in the audience, the little ones wowed all in attendance while on stage, and ensured they put on nothing short of the best show possible.
