Disney on Ice showcases young figure skaters’ talents

Different age groups danced together on the ice and also showcased individual performances.

The Skating Academy of The Ice Rink at i’langa Mall hosted a special Disney on Ice show that brought Disney characters to life on Saturday.

Parents and friends waited in anticipation to see their young skaters dance on the ice. The students performed in different age groups and danced to Disney classics like “Be Our Guest “, “Circle of Life”, and “You’ve Got a Friend in Me“.

The excitement on the skaters’ faces showed as they sang and danced to their favourite songs. The show included group and individual performances, from beginners to advanced skaters.

“The Ice Rink strives to provide the opportunity for skaters to achieve their figure skating goals and dreams,”

Penny Clarke, senior coach, shared. The academy concluded their year with this final show and look forward to starting again in January.

“Figure skating demands strength, flexibility, endurance and a strong core, all of which develop as a skater progresses. It’s great fun and very rewarding,” Clarke concluded.
