SANCO leaders raise crime concerns at Hazyview year-end function
The SANCO Hazyview Zone ended 2025 with a year-end gathering in Bushbuckridge to reflect on progress and outline plans for 2026.
The Hazyview Zone of the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) ended the 2025 with music and a braai at Lee’s Bed and Breakfast along the banks of the Inyaka Dam in Bushbuckridge.
The event took place on December 27 and was attended by SANCO’s zonal convener Noko Mashile, deputy convener Joshua Khoedi, organiser Mondi Matsane, regional deputy chairperson Artwell Dube, treasurer Londiwe Mnisi, and zonal coordinator Nonkululeko Sono.

“The gathering aimed to assess the progress of the structures that are integral to the Hazyview Zone. We also reflected on the challenges and successes of the year, as this event also served as our year-end function,” said Mashile.
Our plan for 2026 is to continue promoting socio-economic development and addressing service-delivery challenges that affect our people on a daily basis.”
He said SANCO had noted with great concern the escalation of criminal activities in certain areas, including Hazyview, Mkhuhlu, Marite, Madras, Oakley and Alexander.
“We are calling upon law enforcement authorities to urgently address the escalating crime in our area. It is a constitutional right for communities to live without fear,” said Mashile.
Shortly after the meeting, the SANCO leaders enjoyed a braai while listening to African jazz music late into the night.
