Wandering rhino diverted at Paul Kruger Gate bridge
The Kruger National Park’s Veterinary Wildlife Service managed to intercept the animal and lead it to safety.
A white rhino bull, who was recently relocated to the Kruger National Park, made an unexpected appearance today, January 13, near the Paul Kruger Gate after being missing for a while.
SANParks spokesperson JP Louw confirmed that the animal has been living near the Paul Kruger Gate, and rangers became concerned about his whereabouts after the Sabie River swelled drastically during heavy rainfall.

He was later spotted on the bridge, in distress, and park staff were deployed to help stop traffic so that the rhino could be redirected to safety.

According to Louw, the bull made his way onto the bridge and was moved by the Park’s Veterinary Wildlife Services unit to a safer area.
Recent downpours in the region are affecting wildlife and human settlements alike.
