Pothole repairs under way in Mbombela

The City of Mbombela has initiated repairs to potholes and other damage caused by the recent severe weather.

The City of Mbombela (CoM) has started repairing potholes on several streets following the recent heavy rains in the Lowveld region.

According to CoM spokesperson Joseph Ngala, the municipality recognises the vital need for functional roads and is committed to repairing all rain-related damage.

“We are going to attend to all potholes within the municipality. It is not a one-day job, but we will start with the key roads in all areas. We are aware that the rainy season is not yet over, but since the weather has subsided and residents’ movement is being hindered, we had to intervene,” Ngala said.

Ngala added that bridges washed away by the floods will receive the necessary attention once officials are certain the rain has stopped. He also noted that roads belonging to the provincial government and Sanral that fall within the CoM are being addressed, with temporary detours put in place to ensure the flow of traffic.

“We advise all residents to be patient with us while we attend to the damage, and we encourage them to report any issues to their respective ward councillors. We would also like to thank the community members who have joined hands to create temporary routes in their areas,” he concluded.
