Truck plunges down N4 on Schoemanskloof Road

A truck driver was hospitalised after losing control of his articulated truck and plunging down a steep embankment in Schoemanskloof.

A dangerous accident occurred this morning, March 5, when an articulated truck plunged down a steep embankment on the N4 at Schoemanskloof near Patanek and came to rest in dense terrain on the mountainside.

Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med reported from the scene:

“On arrival, we found a heavy motor vehicle travelling in the eastbound lane had lost control and went down the side of the mountain.”

The driver alleged that the accident may have been caused by brake failure. He was stabilised at the scene and transported to Rob Ferreira Hospital.
