Just Wanna Say Week 3
Gay rights - an issue many people prefer not to talk about and if they do, you can expect one of two reactions - they simply refuse to take a stand or they go all holy.

In the Value of Families is written, “War. Rape. Murder. Poverty. Equal rights for gays. Guess which one the Southern Baptist Convention is protesting against?”.
Gay rights – an issue many people prefer not to talk about and if they do, you can expect one of two reactions – they simply refuse to take a stand or they go all holy.
Well, let it be known that throughout my 43 years, I’ve had many gay friends, and pardon me if it sounds like generalisation, but I can in all honesty say they have been some of the most loyal and sincere friends I’ve ever had.
Last week I spoke to a man who straight out told me that he would wash his hands of his son, should he ever find out that he is homosexual, and then went on a complete Bible-bashing spree. What a pity, what a waste of so many years of love and happiness. Parents so often make the mistake of rejecting their children when the partner or sexual orientation they choose, does not suit them.
Of course, anything other than the norm is a difficult road to travel, but the mere fact that there are people who have the backbone to stand up and say, “Here I am. This is what I choose for my life,” in my opinion deserves the greatest respect.
I would rather have the love of my children, regardless of their choices or beliefs, than never see them again and having to take that bitterness to the grave with me.
This doesn’t mean that I have to agree with it, but I will respect the fact that they do have a choice, like all of us.
You say you love your child unconditionally? Sorry to burst your bubble, but you don’t know the first thing about unconditional love. And neither do any of the self-appointed prophets who think they have the right to throw stones.
Live and let live.
