EFF member addresses comments made by MEC
We want to be unequivocally clear, that the EFF is not in any way going to chase anyone out of the country. Our policies state it clearly that we want to expropriate land without compensation for equal redistribution.
Lucky Shongwe of the EFF writes:
The recently published article on the comments made by the MEC for human settlements, Andries Gamede at a local government business breakfast leaves us with no choice but to comment as follows:
There exists a large socio-economic discrepancy in South Africa. The ongoing civil unrest and high crime rate are directly related to this untenable situation. The policies of the Economic Freedom Fighters seek to redress this in the best interest of all the citizens of this country.
The comments made by the MEC on the EFF and also on our neighbouring Mozambique, are naive to say the least. Under the present dispensation, white South Africans have been leaving the country in droves. It really is the governance of the ANC which is chasing “…whites out of South Africa”.
While the international community clamours to invest in Mozambique, Gamede warns against this, calling it “uncontrollable”. His appeal to businessmen to seek his assistance in procuring government handouts to foster BEE, is in itself unsustainable and will serve only to further black economic embarrassment.
We also would like to give clarity on the matter of land, because seemingly the MEC has got it all wrong. Umjindi is suffering a huge blow on human-settlement challenges, that is why informal settlements like Kosovo have been sidelined by the ANC failing the municipality after a long court battle. Umjindi community is still living in old wrecked houses built by the apartheid regime where in a four-roomed house, you will find 12 people. Your department cannot even look into the matter, we have constantly been enquiring about the waiting list and the location of the so-called promised land by Mayor Mashaba and his colleagues, but still no answer. All your government does is promise. You have never delivered effectively.
We want to be unequivocally clear, that the EFF is not in any way going to chase anyone out of the country.
Our policies state it clearly that we want to expropriate land without compensation for equal redistribution. I guess we have to conduct a small workshop for the MEC on land. It is also very immature of him to use a government platform to canvass for ANC votes, it just shows how desperate you are. The EFF policies are the only mechanism that can bring about drastic equal change and not the rhetoric promises by the ANC. It’s about time the small businesses of our land develop and benefit from our resources.
We urge all sectors; be it NGOs, religious groups, youth, the business community, concerned groups and the industrial sector to vote for the EFF for equal redistribution of wealth to bring about change and sustainable development.
