Mbombela madam, you only need five pairs of shoes
Sorry to break it to you, ladies. Five pairs of shoes are all you need to keep on walkin' in our city.
“Oh my word, I am in love with these shoes! I need them. I need them now!”
Stop.
One cannot fall in love with shoes. Shoes are not human – they don’t breathe, don’t pay half of your mortgage and they can’t french kiss. Yet women fall in love with shoes more frequently than they fall in love with potential soulmates.
You have to wonder why. Alyssa Siegel, journalist at Psychology Tomorrow, writes that a woman owns 20 pairs of shoes on average at any given time. Many own more. Shoe-shopping seems to be an addiction fueled by the idea that a woman can never have too many shoes. This results in many women aspiring to own a shoe collection to die for.

Why, why, why is the solemate the new soulmate?
Dr. Valerie Steele, co-curator of The Museum of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology shed some light on the issue in March 2013’s Psychology Magazine.
In a nutshell, women use shoes to compensate for their insecurities. “There is no wounding to our self esteem of a pair of shoes doesn’t fit well, unlike a dress or a pair of jeans,” she explains. High heels lengthens our shape, changes the curve of our posture and, in so doing, makes us feel confident and sexy.
High heels makes a woman look taller and thinner. There’s no denying that.
However, one practical pair of heels will do the job. Black heels will suit any outfit and look stylish at all time. That is why they made it to our list of shoes every Mbombela woman needs.
Black pumps will do as well. Be sure to remember using foot powder as pumps evoke a terrible smell when you kick them off. Flip-flops are a must-have around here as Mbombela rarely gets very cold and flip-flops offer a quick solution for those who need to head out. They take two seconds to wiggle your toes into and are comfortable. Use them in the summertime as well.
Boots are a must-have. Once again, pick a practical colour and you’re good to go with one pair. Our winters are short enough – you don’t need a boot collection fit for an army.
Who knows what the ultimate must-own Mbombela shoe is called?

The shoe consists of a comfortable sole and the rest of the shoe is made out of woven stretchy material. A multi-coloured pair is a fun addition to your shoe collection. These shoes are machine washable and last a lifetime. And they don’t smell.
Take a look at our five pairs of shoes doing their thing below. Do you really need anything else?
Remember: simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication. Less is more. Excess is reckless.
Keep walking.
