Leser se brief: Bloeddiens se advertensie gee aanstoot

Henriette Breytenbach skryf:

Thulusile Hlungwani, SANBS communications officer, responds:

The SANBS recognises that the posters may be deemed as offensive and we sincerely apologise to all those who are offended by the campaign. The essence of the campaign was to dispel misconceptions that have been raised related to blood donation in South Africa. The campaign was framed around questions and answers often posed to the SANBS by the public. The aim was to create engagement as well as to educate the public on issues related to blood donation.

The SANBS seeks to ensure that all South African’s feel comfortable giving blood without fear or judgement.
The South African National Blood Services (SANBS) is a non-profit organisation that provides an essential national health-care service, namely the delivery of safe blood to all South Africans. Its responsibilities include managing the entire blood transfusion value chain from collections, testing and processing to distribution to patients.
