Guess the Bok and win!

The Springboks will grace Mpumalanga with their presence for the Incoming Castle Lager test against Wales on Saturday June 21 at the Mbombela Stadium.

Trans African Concessions (TRAC) couldn’t think of a better way to welcome them than by getting the Lowveld’s most iconic figure, Old Joe, painted in green and gold.

As the concessionaire of the N4, TRAC is the custodian of Old Joe and delight in the ability to transform him in commemoration of events and campaigns involving the communities along our 570km trans-border route.

The pot-bellied rock – which, over the decades, has become a celebrity in its own right – was again painted by the Lowveld’s most renowned cartoonist, Ghost, and his daughter Nadia de Witt.

According to Ghost, Old Joe wasn’t just transformed into any Springbok but rather a very significant, prominent, experienced and talented national player who over the years has helped the team achieve brilliant accolades, including winning the 2007 World Cup.

In keeping to the competitiveness of a rugby test match, TRAC is launching a Twitter competition on Friday May 30 where its Twitter followers can guess the Springbok that Old Joe is representing to stand a chance of winning two tickets to the match.

Entering is easy – simply follow @TRACN4route on Twitter and tell them who Old Joe is representing, add the hash tag ‘ #TRACBok ‘ to your tweet and you may stand a chance of winning. If you are already a follower then 50 per cent of your entry is already complete.

Send the answer to @TRACN4route with #TRACBok as hash tag. To comply with Twitter regulations only one tweet per follower is allowed. The competition will run until Monday June 9 and the winner will be chosen in a lucky draw and notified through Twitter.

Please note that the winner will have to collect the tickets at TRAC’s Nelspruit regional office, with proof of identification, on June 19 and 20 between 08:00 and 16:00.

Stadium manager, Roelf Kotze, has expressed his appreciation for Old Joe’s new look, saying it is a great way to market what promises to be a superb match. He says a full stadium is expected and urges all those who haven’t yet bought tickets to do so. “Tickets are available from Computicket and at the stadium. They are selling like hotcakes though,” he concludes.
