Bungalows get the balls rolling for charity
Bowl players had to draw on all their skill against stiff competition in aid of a local orphanage.

Bowlers arrived and firstly enjoyed a typical Nomads drink, milk and whiskey. A total of 48 players participated in this worthy event.
Bowlers were divided into teams and it was games on, bowls were rolling and tricks were tried. The first 12 ends were played with a quick tea to take a much needed break.
Twelve more ends were played but bowlers struggled with the heavy greens. Some teams won and some lost but all in good spirit.
After bowls Irene Moon from Maviljan care centre – Hazyview came and thanked the Nomads players for all the food donations and cutlery and crockery that were given towards the orphanage home.

Nomad Bowls started in East London, in 1980, on the principles of Nomads Golf. The first Nomad District was formed in the Border area and this was followed by Eastern Province in 1982 and very quickly spread throughout South Africa and Swaziland to the present where there are 20 Districts, and more being formed.
A nomad gets played at a different venue each month in order to raise funds that are used to help needy causes. It is a principal of Nomads that donations are never in cash but in goods, products or services to members or groups of the community in need of help.
