Local cricket teams contend for gold at tournament
Grimaldi is in his 10th year at the IPT and has been congratulated for all his effort and support of action cricket.
Yesterday the annual Action Sports Interprovincial Tournament (IPT) started in Centurion where four local teams would take part.
The caps ceremony for the u/10, u/11, u/12 and u/15 teams took place last week at the Nelspruit Action Cricket Arena. A total of 40 players of the Lowveld Mambas will be in action until Saturday hoping to attain a medal at this junior event. “I hope the u/10s and u/15s get medals at the tournament. The u/10s got bronze last year and the u/15s won silver in 2012,” said head coach Eric Grimaldi.

Bevan Carlse, Ryan Kennett, Hadrick Coertze and Ruben de Lange who all represented South Africa at the World Series 2011 in Durban attended the ceremony to wish all the players good luck. De Lange will travel to Australia later this year and also captain the u/18 side at the World Series. Rovanne de Lange is the team manager of the u/13s’ side which will go to Australia and Jackie van Zyl will look after the u/18s.
Jamie de Vos of Curro Nelspruit, Katie Prior of Uplands and Annerike Jacobs of Hoërskool Nelspruit who will represent the South African u/18 girls side will head over to Australia early in September. These girls were also capped on the evening.
