Nottinghill Equestrian Estate held its annual horse-riding clinic last week from June 29 to July 3.
It was presented by a professional instructor with more than 30 years’ experience.
The main instructor, Kraai Kamffer du Preez is a SANDF top-qualified instructor, Sanef level two, FEI coach level one and two (chief instructor SANDF Equestrian Centre for 13 years).
Kamffer has her provincial colours in show jumping, dressage, showing and eventing. She was assisted by Jessica Moreira (FEI coach level one), Hennie Groenewald (FEI coach level one, Sanef one, module one to four), Wilko Kamffer (assistant coach, Sanef one, module two), Lydia Kapp (assistant instructor, Sanef one, module two) and Liz-Marie Crous (assistant instructor, Sanef one, module one).
The riders were introduced to lateral work and general work on the flat, correct position and seat for flatwork and jumping, techniques on jumping and exercises, basic horsemanship and how to deal with problem horses, in-hand work and basic clicker training, basic veterinary and feeding.
The riders were divided into small groups according to the different levels of experience to benefit from the training provided.
