Fighters need sponsors for trip to world champs
A group of seven fighters from White River Kickboxing hope to head to the Unified World Championships in Spain in November.
They need to raise about R270 000 to cover the team and their coach’s expenses and the club have no funds available. Additionally they need to pay a deposit for their trip before August 1.
The group consist of Linda van Staden, who is a two-time national champion and world champion, Elmarie Cornelius, who ranked third in the national championships, Jaco Cornelius, a national champion who was selected for the SA President Team 2014, Francois Botha, ranked third in the national championships earlier this year, Wesley Grobler, a national champion, PJ (Junior) de Beer, a national and Great North champion and Dyllan Whitfield, a national champion in two modes of fighting styles and selected for the South African Kickboxing Association.
As proven by their numerous achievements, the fighters are highly talented and motivated individuals who have excelled at both local and national tournaments.
Unfortunately they don’t have the finances to contribute to this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent their country as part of the SA Sports Combat Association.
Club coach Drikkie van Staden would like to encourage local businesses to invest in the future of these athletes and help their dreams come true. Donations will be appreciated and exposure or branding can be arranged in return.
