Cyclists to race to promote awareness for CANSA

The Grove SUPERSPAR One Day Classic will pedal into action at Halls Farm Stall on Sunday October 11.

Hosted by the Grove SUPERSPAR, it is a day of adventure and fun that caters for the whole family, and it is all about raising money and creating awareness for CANSA. “There are not a lot of road races in the Lowveld, except for the Jock. We want to encourage riders to ride more in the Lowveld,” says Tanya Knight of Grove SUPERSPAR.

There are three distances to choose from. All finishers will receive medals and the overall winners can look forward to prize money.

Race route: 80km
The start is at the Halls Farm Stall on the N4. The riders go up past the stadium, take a left at the first circle, a right at the second one and head up the R37 toward Sabie. At the Brondal turn-off, they turn right towards White River. This is also the turnaround point for the 40km. The riders should watch out for potholes. When they reach the T-junction, this will be the halfway turnaround point and the riders head back the way they came.

Race route: 40km
The start is at the Halls Farm Stall on the N4. The riders go up past the stadium, take a left at the first circle, a right at the second one and head up the R37 toward Sabie. Just before the Brondal turn-off, participants will turn around and head back the same way they came, back to the farm stall.

Race route: 20km fun ride
The route will go up past the stadium and out on the R37. Just before the circle at Vodacom tower and above Riverside Industrial, the riders will turn around and head back to the stadium. They will do this loop twice and finish just behind Halls.
