Riders enjoy rocky terrain at Shikwaru Lodge
The DebtSafe CANSA Mountainbike Challenge took place at Shikwaru Lodge outside Mokopane on Saturday.

It was a new venue with more challenging mountain bike routes and more 207 cyclists participated.
DebtSafe, South Africa’s most trusted debt review company, has been sponsoring the event since 2013. Hein du Plessis, MD of DebtSafe is personally involved in the Mokopane Cycling Club and he is passionate about promoting mountain biking as a sport.
The race was a qualifier for Limpopo colours (35km and 75km) and all proceeds went go to CANSA Waterberg.
The routes provided the cyclists with a real adventurous escape into the bushveld with breath-taking views with vast diversity of wild life.
75KM:
The 75km route started of within the Skikwaru Lodge borders with easy terrain and single tracks and passed the Race Village again after 10km into the race and provided great spectator value. At 20 km into the race the route split and the real mountain biking started. The route consisted of almost 1500m elevation. Some areas were challenging but was no problem for the fit 75km rider.
35Km:
The 35km route started with an easy loop in the Skikwaru Lodge borders before riders headed out. It was a very enjoyable route for the fit 35km rider and a very memorable ride for the weekend warrior! Total accent was 610m.
10km:
The 10km route has an easy flow to it, within the Skiwaru Lodge borders. Half way into the race riders experienced a steady climb but was rewarded with some easy flowing single tracks and downhill back to the race village. Total assent was 140m
