Local club has rocky start to new season
Next fixture October 17- Ngodwana 1 vs Onderberg CC at Ngodwana Cricket Ground
The Onderberg Cricket Club’s (CC) season is underway and they have already played two games.
The season got off to a rocky start with them losing both their fixtures. On October 3 Onderberg CC hosted LVCC 2 from Mbombela. Onderberg CC won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 176 runs before being bowled out.
Best batsman André Fourie scored 58 runs off 32 balls. LVCC 2 chased down the total set with eight overs to spare, scoring 180 runs for the loss of two wickets. Best bowler Greg Dehrmann had four overs, 19 runs and one wicket. LVCC 2 won the fixture by eight wickets.
In the second fixture, which took place on October 10, Onderberg hosted Impala 2 from Mbombela at Riverview Prep School. They lost the toss and were asked to bowl first. Impala 2 scored 279 runs for the loss of five wickets, and best bowler Greg Dehrmann eight overs, 37 runs, and two wickets.
Onderberg struggled to chase down the total set, scoring 143 before being bowled all out with 22 overs to spare. Best batsman Stefan du Preez scored 62 runs off 57 balls. Impala 2 won the fixture by 136 runs.
Onderberg CC would like to thank Riverview Prep School for the wonderful facilities and preparation that went into making the venue conducive for playing and hosting our home games.
