Club’s gymnasts secure top spots in national competition
With precise balance and practised movements, five gymnasts of the Hazyview Gymnastics Club earned themselves a few top spots at the South Africa Gymnastics Games.
The SA Gymnastics Games were held in Eldoraigne, Pretoria and the artistic participants had their moments in the spotlight from October 7 to 10, with over 375 taking part in the level-4 category.
Azme Chiloane, a level-4 gymnast in the category 12 and under, was fifth on the beam thanks to her excellent score and managed to end 15th overall.
David Dorfling, a level-4 gymnast in the group 18 and under, was fifth on the rings, seventh on the parallel bar and ninth on the high bar. Due to the fierce competition, his excellent scores only earned him 24th place overall.
Seany Dorfling, a level-6 gymnast in the 18 and under group, achieved an 11th position on the bar, while level-4 gymnasts Mia Vos (9 and under) and Claudia Wallace (10 and under) also achieved excellent scores in individual items.
Head coach Lynn Wallace says the club is very proud of the gymnasts and hope to make Mpumalanga proud again next year. “Each competition makes us better gymnasts and coaches. With hard work and dedication to the sport we’ll achieve better results each time.
Thank you to all the sponsors and every person who made the SA Games special.
The club members are now preparing for their year-end spectacular for family members and friends which will be held on November 26 at the Kiepersol Farmers’ Hall.
