Mighty Titans lose to Knights
Even though the Multiply Titans were not able to make the grade against the VKB Knights in a preseason match at Uplands College outside White River on Saturday, it again became clear that they are a force to be reckoned with.
After 50 overs, the Titans were able to put an impressive 311 runs on the scoreboard, despite losing several wickets in the early stages of the match. Had this impressive performance continued throughout the Knights’ turn to bat, things could have turned out differently. But they were able to convincingly bag a six-wicket win thanks to the captain and man of the match, Theunis de Bruyn. He knocked a total of 137 runs after only 112 balls.

If the Titans’ loss could be attributed to one single factor, it would be a lack of proper fielding which had a series of missed catches as a result.
“Numerous wickets fell at the first few overs, causing the game’s pace to slow down, but a good partnership between Albie Morkel and Heinrich Klaassen put the team back in a good position,” said chairman of the Titans Franchise Forum, Craig Nel.
“Any team that make over 300 runs, deserves a pat on the back,” he added. Nel said the team did the best they could and added that he was hopeful for this coming Sunfoil Series. Their first match of this series will again be against the Knights, this time on their home grounds at Supersport Park.
Nel wishes to thank locals for their continued support.
Last year Uplands, in conjunction with Casterbridge Hollow and Magnolia Restaurant, signed a three-year contract with the Titans to host a preseason game on Heritage Day.
