Kidz clinic gets under way
Puma Kidz was established in 2016 to teach basic rugby skills to children under 12, and to help them develop better concentration, discipline, tolerance and determination.

The first clinic of the year saw more than 160 anticipated rugby players on the B field at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
Puma Kidz is an extramural activity held during school hours at the school grounds for preschoolers, and in the afternoons for pupils from seven to 12 at the same venue.
Schools are requested to invite Puma Kidz to present the programme at the particular school.

Four clinics are also held annually (one each school term) at the B field at Mbombela Stadium.
Boys or girls, aged three to 12, are welcome at Puma Kidz. The programme is run by Hoffmann Maritz (Steval Pumas full back and centre) and Morné Crous (Puma Kidz coach).
“During the first part of the session we focused on ball technique, agility and tackles. In the last 30 minutes of each session, the players could implement what they had learned earlier in a tag rugby match. Our main focus was for the children to enjoy every moment,” said Maritz.
Puma Kidz clinics and school-specific sessions are also lots of fun. If a child signs up they will have free entry to all Steval Pumas home games (mom, dad, and older siblings will still have to pay).
They will also go on a tour of Mbombela Stadium. The future stars also receive a rugby ball, T-shirt and water bottle.
