Team NAD finishes second

After being on track to defend their Old Mutual joBerg2c title, Team NAD Pro MTB’s Gawie Combrinck and Nico Bell’s wheels came off on day five and eight.

PYGA Euro Steel’s Philip Buys and Matthys Beukes sailed over the line to not only win stage eight but to claim the event outright with a total time of 33:22:01.

The duo were dominant from day four of the nine-day ride over 900 kilometres, winning the final five days.
Combrinck and Bell lost a lot of time on day five and day eight and could not manage to make up the necessary time to defend their title.

They eventually finished second overall in a time of 33 hours 42 minutes and 39 seconds. Last year the duo claimed first place on the podium in the overall standings in 32:29:25.
