Lowvelder to make his Super Rugby debut
He learned his rugby on the fields of Hoërskool Barberton. On Saturday he will play for the Cell C Sharks against the Western Force.
Barberton-born S’busiso Nkosi (21) will make his Super Rugby debut for the Cell C Sharks at Growthpoint Kings Park tomorrow.
The former Hoërskool Barberton (BHS) pupil will start on the left wing in the match against the Western Force (kick-off at 15:05).
Nkosi was born in Barberton in 1996. He attended BHS from grade eight to ten, but completed his schooling at Jeppe in Johannesburg.
In 2012 he represented the u/16 Pumas at the Grant Khomo Week.
He played for the Lions in the 2013 and 2014 Craven Weeks.
The 97 kilogram, 1,82-metre winger was selected for the SA u/20 team which played in the 2016 World Rugby u/20 Championship. He played three group matches before a thigh injury put an end to his tournament.
He played two Absa Currie Cup Qualifying Tournament matches for the Sharks last season and also represented them in the three times in the u/21 Provincial Championship.
He is yet to make his bona fide Currie Cup debut.
Nkosi was included the Cell C Sharks squad which travelled to Buenos Aires, Argentina to play the Jaguares on April 29. He was not included in the match 23.
Sharks left wing, Lwazi Mvovo will not play tomorrow, in line with the Springbok-player rest protocol. He has started in every Super Rugby match this season.
Nkosi will don the number-11 jersey.
One of Nkosi’s coaches at Hoërskool Barberton, Mr Charlie Jackson told Lowvelder that he was a determined player with a humble personality.
Jackson said that he knew when Nkosi was in grade eight that one day he would play for South Africa.
