Final four determined in Selati Cup quarterfinals

Eight ladies teams joined the Top 8 Selati Cup squads during the past weekend's quarter-finals, doubling the action.

After an action-packed weekend, the Selati Cup’s playing field is down to four teams. Eight ladies teams also joined in the action.

Mzinti Ladies had an astonishing 20-0 win against Naas All Stars, with Super Strikers also getting a high-score win of 14-0 against Block C Young Aces.

Steenbok Young Cosmos won 3-0 against Steenbok Two for Joy and Dludluma Chipa FC had a score of 3-1 against Schulzendal United Ladies.

As they enter the last two weeks of the tournament, the Selati teams are more determined than ever to get into the finals and fans were treated to some great soccer.

Although Masibekela Young Heroes made an impressive comeback, Buffelspruit Home Defender proved the tougher team.

The opening goal was scored by Home Defender. They managed to keep Young Heroes from scoring first despite strong attempts to get to the goal.

The determined Young Heroes were awarded a spot kick after the ball was handled in the box by a Home Defender player, with the first half ending with a one-goal draw.

Neither team managed to score during the second half, leaving the winner to be decided by penalties.

Home Defender netted eight kicks to Young Heroes’ seven to earn their spot in the semi-finals this weekend.

KaMhlushwa Real Madrid proved that they’re the team to beat after thumping Screamer Eleven with a score of 7-0.

KaMhlushwa City Stars emerged the winners after a zero-goal draw with Tonga Chelsea ended in a 4-2 penalty shoot-out.

Schulzendal Eleven Experience was the fourth and last team to make it into the semi-finals. They won 3-2 on penalties after a no-goal draw with Mananga Royal City.

Following the weekend’s matches, Machala Matlalepula, of KaMhlushwa Real Madrid, is at the top of the goalscoring log with 12, followed by Sanele Khanyile of Schulz Eleven Experience with 8 and the rest trailing behind with only 4 or 2.

The leading ladies goalscorers are Ncedile Siwela of Super Strikers with 10 and Nothando Nkosi of Mzinti Ladies with 8.

Fans can support the women at Naas Stadium on Saturday, where Super Strikers will take on Dludluma Chipa FC at 13:00 and Steenbok Young Cosmos will face Mzinti Ladies at 13:00.

In the Selati Cup semi-final at Naas Stadium on Sunday, Schulzendal Eleven Experience and Buffelspruit Home Defenders are up first at 12:00, followed by KaMhlushwa City Stars vs KaMhlushwa Real Madrid.
