Prepare to face the Warrior
The immensely popular obstacle course racing series, the Toyota Warrior Race, will take place this weekend at Kwanyoni Lodge.
With a choice of three distances, Rookie (five kilometres), Commando (10-kilometres) and Black-Ops (15-kilometres), it offers athletes from different sporting backgrounds the opportunity to compete with one another, to live out their sense of adventure and to break barriers never thought possible.
The fact that each event is highly spectator-friendly sees supporters become as focused on each obstacle as the competitor they are supporting – a very different kind of bonding experience.
Warriors can look forward to obstacles such as the iron rig, mission impossible, net monster, tipping point, spider trap, leopard crawl, log jam and so much more.
It should be interesting to see what happens when the local CrossFit boxes or gyms challenge one another. There will be an OCR masterclass today from 15:00 to 17:00 at Kwanyoni, where some of South Africa’s top OCR athletes, Thomas van Tonder, Sabrina Daolio and JP Nortje will share tips of the trade and their knowledge of the sport.

Rhino Warrior will be running for rhinos. They have a prize, courtesy of Sabi Sand Reserve, which include two nights at Leopard Hills for two people, British Airways flights and Jamies Restaurant vouchers for anyone recruiting 20 or more warriors for the next event. All recruiters with 20 or more in the entry basket will qualify for this amazing prize.
