Rosslee gets featured on Pasella
In the July edition of Get It Lowveld, Wolves Martial Arts (WMA) student, Miquette Rosslee (19) was featured in the magazine.
The article brought her into the limelight and she was noticed by production manager of Pasella, Vicky Botha.
Master Awie Davis of WMA received a phonecall from Botha to discuss a video for the Afrikaans lifestyle show.
The shoot was done at Misty Mountain Lodge, Mac Mac Falls and God’s Window in Sabie early in September.
“It was an incredible experience. The team merely focused on Miquette, however, in-between Miquette and I had to showcase about six different movements. It was great fun,” said Davis.
Rosslee, a second dan black-belt instructor in the magnificent art of Haedong Kumdo or traditional Korean sword fighting, was over the moon after receiving a call from Botha.
“I was shocked. It was quite a surprise. It was the first time something like that happened to me. I didn’t know what to expect. Before the shoot, Vicky sent me questions, such as when I started practising martial arts, why sword fighting, who I am, if I am at home, and more about my masters Awie and Xanderm,” said Rosslee.
She started martial arts at the age of five. At first she practised Tang Soo Do, but in 2005 she started focusing on sword fighting.
In two years time she will qualify for her third dan.
Rosslee hopes to relocate to Cape Town and plans to open her own dojo club.
The episode featuring Rosslee will soon be finalised.
