Faheem gets to bowl with the worlds’ best

Faheem Nomani, a cricketer from Hoërskool Bergvlam, was invited by the Titans Academy to bowl during the practice sessions of the Proteas and the Indian National team.

Last Sunday the teams faced each other in the second of sixth tests at SuperSport Park.

The day before, Faheem bowled with some of the best spin bowlers in the world to world-class batsmen.

“Bowling to players like David Miller, MS Dhoni, Ajinka Rahane and Kagiso Rabada was a fantastic experience. Receiving advice and tips from the Indian spin bowlers was most invaluable,” said Faheem.

This youngster represented Titans Mpumalanga at the u/13, u/15 and u/17 national tournaments and, most recently, at the u/19 Khaya Majola Cricket week.

He plays first-team cricket for Bergvlam and has been part of the first team since grade nine.

Faheem also plays premier league club cricket for Valencia Cricket Club, and was recently selected to represent the Lowveld A team in the Lanion Hall tournament in Witbank this past weekend.

In the winter months, he plays for Bank All Stars in the Lenasia Premier League (LPL), where he competes against some of the most talented players in South AFafrica.

The 18-year-old currently attends coaching sessions with Johan Rudolph at the Johan Rudolph Cricket Academy in Mbombela.

“My son works extremely hard and daily practices his game and his fitness. He has aspirations of joining one of the cricket academies after his matric year with an eye on furthering his cricket career,” said his mother Aneesa.

Coach Rudolph says that Faheem always sets an example of his dedication on and off the field.

“I had the privilege of working with him for the past four years. His parents really walk the extra mile in giving him opportunities outside Mpumalanga’s boundaries. He played in a T20 competition in Lanacia last year where some Lions franchise players were involved. Great exposure which only can benefit his cricket in the years to come.” He will join the Titans Academy after completing school this year.
