Sehohle does it again at annual Nite Race
Lowmed's Folavio Sehohle was the fastest athlete of the day when he crossed the finish line in a whopping 32:17.
The Van Wettens Nite Race took place at a new and exciting venue last week after protests forced it to be postponed.
This was the 14th race of its kind, which this year attracted just short of 800 runners. The new route surrounding Ingwenyama Conference & Sport Resort pushed runners to their limits with never-ending uphills, but once again provided the opportunity for young and old to enjoy a great family atmosphere and running pleasure.
It attracted a wide spectrum of participants, from parents walking with kids in the five-kilometre division to serious runners testing their stamina early in the season with the gruelling 10-kilometre race. Many companies and schools also entered teams.
The five-kilometre run, other than the more serious 10-kilometre one, was not timed, as it was only for fun. The 10-kilometre route was a challenging five-kilometre loop through the streets surrounding Ingwenyama with the start and finish being at the resort.
The organiser, Nedbank LVCC Running Club, received loads of compliments about the event and participants felt safe, which is one of the reasons why this will henceforth be the new venue of the race. “The turnout was way beyond our expectations, as a two-week postponement was expected to influence the race negatively. But thanks to Ingwenyama which facilitated us on such short notice, and the sponsors, Van Wettens’ patience, the race could continue with even greater success,” said the secretary of LVCC, Beth Loch.
Lowmed’s Folavio Sehohle was the fastest athlete of the day when he crossed the finish line in a whopping 32:17, just a few seconds ahead of Run, Walk for Life athlete Prince Ndlovu.
Felicity Sibande was the first woman to cross the finish line in a time of 43:16.
The next race is set for January 30, 2019 at the same venue.
