Selati Cup’s last 32 a feast of soccer
The long weekend was packed with soccer action as teams vied to secure their position in the last 16 of the Selati Cup.
Mangweni Peace Maker were the first team to get into the next round, with a score of 3-2 against the Mlambo Royal Lions.
They warmed up the crowd at the KaMaqhekeza Stadium on Saturday and were followed by Tonga Chelsea vs Jeppes Peace Maker. The latter won with one goal to none.
Hoyi Darkies were beaten 0-2 by the strong team of Shongwe Chiefs.

Kamhlushwa Screamer Eleven, one of the tournament’s strongest contenders, lost in the last match of the day.
Steenbok Classic booked their spot in the last 16 with three goals to none.
On Sunday at Driekoppies Stadium, defending champs Kamhlushwa Real Madrid moved a step closer to lifting the trophy again. They faced Jeppes Cobra and scored two goals in the second half with the assistance of right winger, Thulani Gwebu, to win the match 2-0.

Mashaba United vs Skhwahlane Young Tigers was a very tough game, with neither team managing to score a goal. It was decided with an action-packed penalty shootout. Mashaba United proved victorious when the Young Tigers’ goalkeeper hit the post, resulting in a score of 7-6.
Coach Walter Sambo’s Block A Naughty Boys beat Schulzendal Star Wanderers by 5-1. First-time Selati Cup player Mathebula Mthobisi managed to score three goals in a row and assisted with the last two goals late in the second half.
Block A United have a history of delivering beatings in the tournament and knocked Boschfontein Rovers out of the running in the last match of the day. The teams tied with one goal each in an action-packed game, entertaining fans with dribbling and showing off their new style of passing the ball. The match was decided with penalties, where Block A won with 4 to 3.

Hundreds of fans spent Workers’ Day at Naas Stadium to watch eight more teams battle it out.
Mandulo No Mistake lost against Mbokodo Wanderers 3-0. Naas Academy came up against Dludluma Love and Peace and won with a score of 4-1.
Managa Royal City faced Mzinti Real Madrid and won with 2-1.
The day concluded with the match of Mawewe Chiefs vs Boschfontein FC, where the latter won with 2-1.
The top eight ladies teams in the tournament are Nkomazi, Super Strikers, Phefeni United, Naas All Stars, Chippa United, Two for Joy, Naas Cosmos and Mzinti.
The last eight matches in the Selati Cup’s third round will take place on Saturday at Driekoppies Stadium:
