Rugby festival brings nation’s best youngsters to Lowveld

It welcomed seven touring teams from various provinces namely Bishops, CBC Boksburg, Clifton College, Cornwall Hill College, St Alban's College, St Andrew's (Bloemfontein) and St Benedict's College as well as two local teams, Curro Nelspruit and Penryn College.

Over the long weekend, Uplands College hosted the u/14 Independent Schools Rugby Festival (ISRF).

It welcomed seven touring teams from various provinces namely Bishops, CBC Boksburg, Clifton College, Cornwall Hill College, St Alban’s College, St Andrew’s (Bloemfontein) and St Benedict’s College as well as two local teams, Curro Nelspruit and Penryn College.

Over the course of the festival, rugby was played on the Friday, Saturday, and Monday with Sunday being a day off for teams to explore the Lowveld and get some well-deserved rest.

Some exciting rugby was played, with many closely fought games played in good spirit.

An exciting brand of rugby was showcased with a total of 92 tries scored in 13 matches.

Bishops stood out as one of the stronger teams, winning all three of their fixtures comfortably against Curro Nelspruit, St Alban’s and Clifton College.
