Defending champions knocked out of Selati Cup
The weekend's Selati Cup matches saw defending champions KaMhlushwa Real Madrid's dreams of lifting the trophy shattered by Mananga Royal City.
KaMhlushwa Real Madrid faced Mananga Royal City in the last game of the day at Driekoppies Stadium on Sunday.
It was a peaceful game with fans chanting for both teams. Despite a good performance by Proper Mkhabela of Real Madrid, the team lost with two goals to Royal City’s three.
The pitch was opened by Mawewe Super Curl vs Tonga Chelsea at KaMaqhekeza Stadium on Saturday ending in a 0-3 score.
Next Steenbok Classic beat Mangweni Peacemaker with two goals to zero.

Former Selati Cup champs, Block A Naughty Boys booked their spot in the quarter finals by beating KaMhlushwa Jnr City Stars with 2-0.
It was standing room only at the stadium for Block A United vs Schulzendal Eleven Experience.
Due to team superstitions, none of the players wanted to jog onto the field first and the match was delayed by several minutes. The referee had to issue both team captains yellow cards before the match started, but it was well worth the wait.
In the 23rd minute of the game, Block A United were granted a penalty kick, which was successful. Eleven Experience fought back to equalise the playing field before half-time.
The second half was tough but Eleven Experience’s Sanele Khanyeni managed to score two goals and their opponents, a second one.
The game was stopped six minutes before full time as fans were fighting and throwing bottles onto the field. The final score was 3-2 in Eleven Experience’s favour.

Strong winds proved a challenge for players at Driekoppies Stadium on Sunday.
Driekoppies Mbokodo Wanderers were knocked out by Jeppes Reef Shongwe Chiefs with four penalties to two after a goalless draw at full time.
Boschfontein FC and Magogeni Classic played a fascinating seven-goal game, with the former winning by scoring four goals.
It was all blue in the stadium as the fans of Naas Academy (Blue Crane) dressed to support their home team.
Great football raised tensions on the stands and Mashaba United fans disrupted the game by throwing bottles onto the field when they saw their team was losing. The game ended in the blue team’s favour with three goals to one.

Collence Silabela of the Nkomazi Local Football Association said the standard of football has been high so far and officials and fans are looking forward to even more spectacular matches in the quarter finals.
“It’s becoming a little bit tougher and we cannot predict which teams are going to win. The teams who made it to the last eight, they have experience and know how hard it is to make it to the finals,” he remarked.
