Michelle’s dream becomes a reality
So often, the desire to dance is intrinsic at birth. It can't be separated from a person's essence and has always been in their very heart and soul. It is when something moves you so powerfully that it becomes a new avenue for happiness and clarity.
For Lowvelder, Michelle Buys (24), that’s exactly what happened.
“When I was seven years old, I knew I wanted dancing to be my career.”
Interestingly enough she only joined an academy, Infinity Dance Academy, owned by Nadia Smit at the age 17.
“As a young girl, I would watch videos on YouTube and basically I taught myself how to dance.”
“Nadia opened my eyes to the dancing world. I helped Nadia as a dance instructor and I always dreamed of opening my own studio one day.”
Michelle competed in Talent Africa, the South African Championships, Summer Heat, SATCH, Eisteddfod and in the International ARTS Talent Showcase. She has choreographed Ms Mpumalanga and various other productions.
“I have worked really hard to get where I am today. I have the most amazing support system and without people like Nadia, my partner Charl (Verster) and my parents and sister, I would not be able to fulfil this dream.”
She does jazz, African, hip hop, contemporary and modern and with her new studio, she will also be presenting, kizomba – a dancing style known to be very sensual.

Michelle will be opening her own dancing studio on July 21 at Training Edge, West End. She teaches kids from the age of three years and up – any age, male and female.
She invites all dancing enthusiasts to her open day. The studio also does event and one-on-ones for special occasions. Michelle offers classes for competitive and non-competitive dancers.
