Fencers got the opportunity to show off their skills during the annual competition hosted by the Mpumalanga Fencing Association (MFA).

It was held at Nelspruit Action Arena on Saturday. Sakhile Ngobe outshone his competitors in the u/17 category and took home the gold.

Sakhile was ranked 24th in South Africa and will represent Mpumalanga during the Port Elizabeth Open Fencing Championships this weekend.

In 2015 Sakhile started fencing under guidance of MFA coach, Greta Ingram.Caitlin Barnard obtained the silver medal.

Both Jenna Ingram and Aaron Wiggins placed third.

In the u/13 epee category, Josua Malan was in the lead, Delane Odendaal took second place and Bernard Pienaar scooped the bronze.
