The Razorbacks skate over the competition
The competition was held from June 16 to 23, hosting age groups u/12 to u/18 men and u/18 women.

Eight of the Nelspruit Razorback Ice Hockey Club’s finest recently returned from the coolest place in Cape Town, The Ice Station at the Grand West Casino, where they participated in the SAIHF Interprovincials.
The competition was held from June 16 to 23, hosting age groups u/12 to u/18 men and u/18 women. Their participation followed after the Gauteng interprovincial trials at Forest Hill Ice Rink yielded the following local players
• Skyler Steyn (u/12B)
• Ruwan Slabbert (u/14B)
• Simon Steyn (u/14B)
• Waldo Steynvaart (u/16B)
• Winand Cronje (u/16B)
• Jean Steyn (u/16B)
• Ulrich van der Westhuizen (u/16A and u/18B)
• Zoe-May Steyn (women u/18A).
During the trials, Skyler, who is only six years old and the youngest member of Nelspruit Razorbacks, took part in the public skating session and was approached to be part of the trials because of his skating style. During the tournament he came fourth, with one goal and two assisted goals.
Zoe-May Steyn scored three goals and three assisted goals, becoming one of the highest scorers in the Ladies Tournament and receiving the MVP Award for the final game. She has been selected for the Senior Women’s Interprovincial Gauteng Team. The tournament will be taking place from August 9 to 11 at Forest Hill Ice Rink.
The team traveled to Pretoria each weekend to get enough practice before the tournament. “It was a privilege to be part of the team, and to be trained by some of SA’s top coaches,” said Barbara Steyn, co-founder of the club.
She added that ice hockey is one of the fastest and most exhilarating sports in the world. Both men and women take part and it is enjoyed by young and old.
“Thank you to all coaches and managers for all their hard work and dedication. Thank you to all the parents who traveled to Cape Town to support the players,” added Steyn.
