The director of rugby and head coach of the NNC Pumas, Jimmy Stonehouse, encouraged all parents and young men from across the country to get into contact with the Pumas Rugby Institute.

This is your chance to rub shoulders with and learn from the best in the business in the beautiful Lowveld.
Headed by former rugby legend Hennie Skorbinski, the newly launched institute is aimed at the development of the individual player. Personal attention is guaranteed – the conditioning coaches and mentors will ensure the player develops his skills to perform at his best in his position.

At the recent “lift-off” held at Mbombela Stadium, Thea Visagie, the COO, said rugby and sport are a powerful vehicle to educate the youth.

“Pumas Rugby Institute students get to train in the same space as professional players – this motivates and inspires the students to aim higher and achieve their goals. It also allows the professional and u/20 coaches to see their abilities. UXI Rugby Institutes provides the platform to turn boys into high performance people. The programme offers a holistic approach – mind, body and soul. UXI Rugby Institutes provides the platform to achieve your optimal rugby development, while providing a nationally accredited academic qualification to ensure employability for a life in and after rugby/sport.”

UXI Sport has been successful in the last ten months establishing various UXI Rugby Institutes in six provinces across the country. The high performance rugby programme is identical throughout the country, therefore providing students with unique opportunities: to be exposed to various world-class rugby coaches across the country, like Jimmy Stonehouse, to travel our beautiful country via rugby, to be compared to those students at the other UXI Rugby Institutes for self-improvement purposes, to be noticed by various rugby unions – all achieved without any interruptions to the high-performance rugby programme, mental and life skills programme and the academic qualification.

As Stonehouse stated, “We live in such a beautiful part of the country, and we are not only looking locally for candidates, but nationwide too. I am excited about the fact that the institute will open its doors to young talent and enable the candidates to have a future, not only in professional rugby, but to be successful after their rugby career too,” he said.
