The next Lowvelder Golf Challenge is here

The overall leader of the Lowvelder Golf Challenge is currently on 72 points after two rounds.

The third installment of the 2025 Lowvelder Golf Challenge series is around the corner, set to be held at Mbombela Golf Club on Wednesday, May 28.

With Octopi Smart Solutions and Du Toit-Smuts & Partners Attorneys back on board as sponsors of the series, the first round of the year was held on March 23, and Attie van Wyk emerged victorious with his haul of 41 points.

Round two winner Robin Paige replicated Van Wyk’s points tally to add his name to the winners circle for the year.
Rian Joubert currently leads the overall competition though, thanks to his tally of 72 points. He’s followed by Pieter Viljoen Jr on 71 points, then Van Wyk on 70 and Corlius Viljoen, also on 70.

As was the case in 2024, the competition is being played in an individual Stableford format, with an additional surprise format to be revealed on the day.

To contend for the title, players must compete in at least five out of the nine competition days, as their five best scores will count towards the overall standings after the grand final, which will be hosted on November 20.

Players are responsible for booking their own rounds and carts by contacting the club on 013 744 0952. Eligibility for prizes requires attending the prize-giving ceremony. Participants must be affiliated with a club and hold an official handicap.
