Curro aims to make history, again
Curro Nelspruit's rugby teams are continuing to make their mark among some of South Africa's top rugby schools.
SA School Sports released its latest rankings indicating that two rugby teams of Curro Nelspruit are ranked in the top 20 in the country.
The u/14 and u/15 teams are ranked 13th and 20th respectively. In early 2017, director of rugby at Curro, Ronald Msimango, and former front-row coach of the iCollege Pumas, Hein Kriek, implemented a long-term player-development plan.

It most definitely was the start of a progression of success as last season was the first year since Curro Holding’s inception in 1998 that a Curro school reached a final and walked away with the champions’ trophy.
Curro u/14 captain Danie Visser said that the team are striving to once again return with the Virsekerbeker.
“The u/15s set the standard last year by beating Hoogenhout 40-5 in the finals. We hope to make history once again this year.”
Head coach of the u/14s, Graeme Stewart said that their transformation plan in placing Curro Nelspruit on the rugby map and establishing the school as a force within high school rugby in Mpumalanga
is well on track, even slightly ahead, especially after the release of the recent national rankings.
“We will continue to work even harder and be more innovative in our rugby programmes. We endeavour to be the school of choice for rugby in the Lowveld. Part of our rugby vision is that we teach our players to be quality young men on and off the field, at all times.”
Behind the scenes extensive future planning and preparation are ongoing to ensure that Curro achieve their long-term goals and aspirations.
The rugby programme of Curro Nelspruit has resulted in remarkable results. With continued hard work and humility, the future looks bright for Curro Nelspruit rugby.
