Barberton Daisy Golf Tournament lives up to its reputation

Travis Willard was the overall winner of the 49-year-old tournament.

Travis Willard was the overall champion of the 2023 Barberton Daisy Golf Tournament.

The winner was decided on points accumulated over the four days of competition.

The Daisy is one of the longest-standing golf tournaments in the Lowveld and was played at the Barberton Golf Club from last Wednesday to Saturday.

The players were full of praise for the organisation of the tournament and also the excellent course. The greens, in particular, were in pristine condition.

“The Barberton Daisy was a great success. We had an average of 60-plus players from Gauteng and Lowveld clubs per day.

“Barberton Golf Club had a large cash injection due to the tournament, and this will go a long way in improving the club.

“Next year’s Barberton Daisy will be the 50th anniversary of the much-loved tournament, and we intend to make this one to remember,” said

Wayne Gebhard, the manager of Barberton Golf Club.

The town also benefited from the Daisy as players from afar spent some money at local establishments and businesses.
