Furious action at last leg of 2023 MP Enduro Series in Sabie

Danika Botha was in a class of her own in the women's race.

The final round of the Enduro Series, presented by the Trail Awareness Crew, marked the end of the Mpumalanga Enduro Series for 2023.

It was a hotly contested battle in and around Sabie on both days, with sunny weather on Saturday and pouring rain Saturday evening adding challenges for Sunday.

With the absence of frontrunner Willie van Eck, it opened the field for Tyrone Anders to take the victory with a time of 00:25:33 for both days.
He was closely followed by Dustin Rudman, who had clean runs and speed in both dusty and slippery conditions, ending with a time of 00:25:50.

Ricky Tomaselli and Tal Uzan-Tidhar followed in third and fourth respectively, but with an even closer margin splitting them – just under three seconds.

Laubscher Paquet rounded off the overall podium in fifth with a time of 00:26:52.

In the ladies’ field, it was no surprise to see Danika Botha taking the lead from the first stage and end up racking up the fastest female times for both days, despite a few mistakes that cost her a crash or two. Second overall was local up-and-coming young gun, Mikyla Herbst, who looked very comfortable in contrasting conditions on the two days, with a time of 00:33:27.

Following in third, was local doctor and fan favourite, Corné Ackermann, with strong runs from her as well, especially on the steeper stages of day two.

It was a weekend of thrills, steep stages, and a couple of close calls for some of the racers, but a big success for the team behind the scenes, the

Trail Awareness Crew, that put on brilliantly organised events throughout the year.
