Heat opens up on Lowveld Closed 3 tennis is Mbombela and White River

Over 100 players took part, showcasing their skills and the depth of Lowveld tennis.

On Friday and Saturday March 8 and 9, 108 tennis players from across the Lowveld competed in the third instalment of the tennis season. Friday afternoon proved to be blistering hot, but the players toughed it out.

Matches were played at various venues in Mbombela and White River.

The Lowveld Junior Tennis Association organises its events for the green and yellow ball players, based on players’ Universal Tennis Rating. This enables players to enjoy level-based competition, ensuring most matches are even, and enable children to play as much tennis as possible over two days.

Starting with the youngsters who played on Saturday only and at Curro, the U8 boys competition was won by JW Davis. Ludwig Prins and Erard de Lange tied for second place.

The U8 girls’ category saw Miandi Bronkhorst come out on top, with Kiara Kent finishing in second place.
