Leaderboard heats up after round 3 of Lowvelder Golf Challenge
The winner of the 2026 Lowvelder Golf Challenge will win a year's membership to Mbombela Golf Club.
Jacobus du Toit claimed the honours in the third round of the Lowvelder Golf Challenge on Wednesday, April 29. He scored 40 Stableford points to win the day. Laun Walters was second with 39 points, and Schalk Esterhuizen third with 37.
Danie Bezuidenhout retains the number one place on the log. His 33 points last Wednesday took him to a total of 108.
JJ van Rensburg scored 36 points in the most-recent competition, moving from fourth to second on the log.
Dennis Lambourn made a leap from 11th place to third. His 34 took his total log points to 98.
Despite his win, Du Toit is way down on the log table due to him not competing in the first two rounds.
John Ross Tapson, who was in second place on the log after round two, dropped 13 places to 15th due to the fact that he did not compete in the third edition.
The defending champion, Christo Bouwer, scored a respectable 37 last Wednesday. He scored 63 in the first, and did not play in the second round, and is 27th on the log table.
The fourth round of the 2026 Lowvelder Golf Challenge, sponsored by Octopi Smart Solutions, Du Toit-Smuts and Partners Attorneys and Castle Lager Double Malt, will be played at Mbombela Golf Club on May 27.

Eligibility for prizes requires attending the prize-giving ceremony. Participants must be affiliated with a club and hold an official handicap.
