Rowers make the Rands roll in at fundraiser

Accelerated Academy's seventh annual indoor-rowing marathon saw pupils, parents and community members keep rowing machines going for twelve hours.

Rowing on dry ground may seem unusual, but for Accelerated Academy this is a much-anticipated annual event.

Pupils, parents and passers-by did their part to keep the rowing machines at Riverside Mall going from 07:00 to 19:00 on August 25.

This was its seventh indoor-rowing marathon which has gained momentum with each passing year. Participants had a lot of fun and were supported by family, friends and even shoppers.

They managed to complete a distance of 276 kilometres, with all funds going toward a brand-new jungle gym for the school. Staff members are still waiting in anticipation to hear how much money they managed to raise.

Prizes, sponsored by Pine Lake Inn, Magic Print and the school, were awarded to the winners in the respective categories:
