Whities’ Callum is tops

White River Primary's stalwart athlete, Callum van Staden, bagged 860 points for his gold medal in the high jump for boys u/11 at Nelspruit Primary's friendly meeting on Friday.

He set a new record at last year’s Mpumalanga Championships meeting in the 100 metres with a time of 13,50 seconds.

Although he finished first in the 100 metres last week in 14,19 seconds, it was not his best time of the season, but he still managed to outrun teammate, Mohammed Abdullah, who came second with 14,50 seconds. Callum also obtained gold in the 70-metre hurdles event (12,71 seconds), 80-metres (11,31 seconds) as well as in the long jump with a distance of 3,70 metres.
