Massive financial injection for gospel music awards

MBOMBELA – Our province is rich in so many ways, and among these is gospel music. Hence the Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards (Mgoma) was born.

Mgoma was launched in September last year and staged its first annual event in December at Mbombela Stadium. An array of sponsorships contributed to the success of this fast-growing event.

One of these, Mathews Phosa and Associates, had already come forward to further sponsor the project to the tune of R500 000 for the benefit of Mpumalanga-based gospel artists.

This and other sponsorships help shape the nature of the awards and motivate gospel- music artists to do more in terms of content and entertainment.

Mathews Phosa and Associates was invited by virtue of a concept proposal to sponsor the MP Gospel Music Awards.

“It is not unusual and in line with the current social-investment project we are currently involved in,” said Moya Lesia, director of Phosa Group. “Spirituality and spiritual outlet are important elements of moral regeneration. We are looking forward to be part of the growth of the Mgoma project and look forward to broader representation and further investment to this event,” she added. “We would like to encourage businesses to join us in sponsoring these awards in the future.”

“These awards, and prize money that goes to the winners, encourages local artists to work hard to reach their full potential,” said Sandile Ngobe, director of Mgoma.

“In general, we are looking for more local artists to enter, and specifically, more rock and Afrikaans entrants.” Enquiries: 079-372-7041 or ngobemedia@gmail.com
