Prepare to be entertained at the Lowveld Air Show
Get ready for some amazing aerial acrobatics at the Lowveld Air Show on May 23.

Last year, close to 5 000 aeronautical enthusiasts enjoyed clear skies and high-flying action at Nelspruit Airfield, which would provide a spectacular backdrop to the event. This year an even greater attendance was expected.
With entry fees kept to a minimum, this was arguably the best value for money one could find in the Lowveld, which promised to meet all your adrenalin-craving needs.
However, there would be no acrobatic action on Friday as this was scheduled for the cadet day which started at 10:00 at the same venue.
On a cadet day organisers look for the next previously disadvantage individuals to train and hopefully become future pilots.
“We request schools to send us individuals from grades 10 to 12 with maths and science backgrounnd, who are interested in acquiring a career in aviation, privately or with the South African Air Force (Saaf),” said the vice-chairman of the event, Victor Picoto.
On the day, the kids would get a full tour of the Saaf tent, with an explanation of the complete concept of a career in the air force and the possibility of sitting in a full flight simulator. Three lucky individuals would be taken for a flip on a Alouette II, a military helicopter. The good news was that the entrance would be free of charge that day.
Aviation is an important aspect of Mpumalanga’s growth and public awareness generated by events such as this, are invaluable for the broader economic success of the province.
On Saturday, a great line-up of aircraft and the smell of braais filling the air will make for a wonderful autumn day for the whole family. Tickets cost R100 for adults and R50 for schoolchildren, while preschoolers enter for free. Gates will open at 08:00. Tickets are available at the Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism at the Crossing Centre, Riverside Mall (kiosk next to Spur), Casterbridge (White River) and at the Lowveld Aero Club. Executive packages are available from former.
