Saarkie and the Lowveld – the duo that rocks

The popular group have a special spot for the Lowveld.

MBOMBELA – It’s been a Lowveld-orientated week for all-girl rock band Saarkie, who released their single called “Dullstroom” on radio and performed at one of the city’s universities last night.

“Dullstroom,” their first single from their album “Reisiger” was released on October 20, 2014 and made its debut on South African radio stations this week. Today, Manager Mr Conrad Peyper confirmed that the group will entertain students of the University of Mpumalanga tonight.  The show will start at 19:00.

“Lowvelder’s should keep their eyes and ears open.  We may arrange another performance in White River next Saturday,” he said.

The album’s second single, “Somerjare,” was released in February last year and the song’s music video had an exclusive debut on Jukebox March 7, 2015.

Critics say that “Reisiger” firmly established Saarkie in South Africa’s rock genre.  This follows the success of their debut album “Luister” in 2009 and their second album “Identiteit” in 2011.

The popular group consists of Adèle Fouché (lead singer, guitar and harmonica), Lila Botha (drums en background vocals) and Lourene Mostert (bass guitar, keyboard en background vocals).

Now living in Pretoria, Adèle and Lila are orginally from Boksburg and have been friends since kindergarten. They attended Baanbreker Primary School together and high school at Dr. EG Jansen. Before Lourene settled in Centurion, she lived in Messina.
