Party lament inadequate health facility

“Without the use of this clinic, community members who need to access health-care facilities are forced to take two taxis to get to the nearest clinic and many chronically ill patients simply cannot afford this.”

MBOMBELA – The DA has lashed at the ANC for its alleged failure to deliver on its promises. It sighted the case of a clinic in Bushbuckridge where it alleges residents of Clare A face a daily struggle to access healthcare.

The party said the community of Clare A had a temporary clinic, but it was closed to make way for a bigger and better clinic.

According to the party’s spokesperson on health, Ms Jane Sithole, The new clinic was built, but for reasons that were not communicated to the residents of the area, it was never officially opened and used. She added that the building had now been standing empty for years and has become a playground for vandals and criminal activity.

“Without the use of this clinic, community members who need to access health-care facilities are forced to take two taxis to get to the nearest clinic and many chronically ill patients simply cannot afford this,” Sithole said.

The party also called n the health MEC, Mr Gillion Mashego, to provide urgent answers to the community of Clare A as to why their clinic was dumped upon completion and why the department has made health-care for them a privilege and not a basic human right.
